How to Use Audio Files in Google Forms for Assessment

Hello: everyone i'm, dr karen jackson, and i am a retired, instructional technology, specialist and also the managing member of jackson. Educational experiences - and i would like to share with you today how to allow your students to upload audio to google forms and also you can use this to upload audio for as a prompt for them to respond.

So let's get started. [, Music, ], alrighty so step one. You need to decide what kinds of questions and conversations you you want. Your students to produce. Our first question will be an image where the student uploads a file to describe the image.

The first thing we're going to do is paste our question in the question field and i just have a random question. Then click on the picture link and insert the picture that you want the students to describe the default question style is multiple choice, but i want the students to upload their audio file.

So i click the drop down menu and i choose file upload. So let respondents upload files to drive so yes, i want that to happen. So now you have choices, allow only specific file types, a maximum number or maximum size.

I can customize all that, but i do want audio. So i'm going to specify. I want my students to speak in in whatever language they want to use and they're going to describe that picture to me. So imagine the applications to other other images and other descriptions it doesn't have to be ells but just language development.

So i'm. I'm, loving this style anyway. Um here and now is a preview of the question and the picture, and now the student when the student answers they add file and they get the familiar insert file box from google now.

Another type of question is where i insert a hyperlink here that has an audio recording and then underneath in the long answer text the students describe what they heard. They describe the conversation, they can listen to it again and again, and it will open a new window and they simply have to close the tab or the window that opens up when they click on the hyperlink.

So this is how you do it. Okay, hold up hold up. I have previously collected an audio file and put it in my drive and that's. The tab that i'm about to open. So i'm going up here and i'm going to right click and i'm, going to get the shareable link for that.

My link sharing is on, and so i click on that and i copy that link. I go back to my form and i'm, going to paste that link right here and i do need to give them some kind of directions. So i'm, going to put my text now.

I'm pasting. My directions and i need to clean this up a little bit. I have my link. I have a place for student response and i'm, going to fix that up a little bit and now let's. Look at it here's, a preview, a question picture, question directions and the students click on that link, and it opens up a new tab.

They can listen and re-listen and just go back and forth and fill in their answer about what the audio file was about and then submit their quiz or their questionnaire, and that's. How you work with audio files in google forms thanks again and have a great day KAREN JACKSON, Hello, everyone.
